National Hispanic Scientist of the Year - 2012

With the tremendous growth of the Hispanic community, eventually becoming the largest minority in the US by the year 2030, it is imperative to recognize the importance of Hispanic role models inspiring young Hispanic students from at-risk situations to stay in school and through inspiration and education change their lives and truly realize their dreams.

This program allows us to reach youth in two ways; Meet the Hispanic Scientist Day and MOSI's YES! Team!

Meet the Hispanic Scientist Day's purpose is to provide a mentoring opportunity to middle and high school Hispanic students as they meet and talk to Dr. Volkow on Friday, October 26, 2012. This program has positively impacted the lives of Hispanic students in the Tampa Bay Area for 11 years, making students realize that through staying in school their lives can change and many of them can become our future scientists, engineers and mathematicians.
